The New York Jets might have lost their quest in winning the Superbowl, but they are winners in statistic: Social Media
Last year, social media guru Gary Vaynerchuk started working with The Jets on their social networking efforts to a rousing success.
Now the J-E-T , Jets, Jets, Jets are embarking on a new social media campaign: cheerleading.
According to CBS Sports “The Jets are using social networking in a unique way. Preparing for the 2011 cheerleader auditions, the Jets are going to automatically allow any interested candidates who “like” the team on Facebook to advance directly to the final round of auditions”
It will be interesting to see how this will work out.
What if they Jets relieves thousands of “likes”?
Will they all make it through the final round or will there be screening process?
What if you have some funny guys who”like” the page, then show up in drag?
This thing could either be a train wreck or one best cheerleading try-outs of all-time.
However this turns out, The Jets should get kudos for taking the chance and engaging their fans during the off-season with social media.
Now since I enjoy social media research, let me see who “liked” their page ; ^)
