I Got My Free Spotify Subscription from Coca Cola

After a stellar write-up in USA Today ,  Spotify‘s  assault on America continues as Coca Cola partners with the music service to offer a free subscription:  http://www.spotify.com/us/coca-cola/

(Motorola, Sonos, Reebok, Chevrolet and The Daily are also exclusives partners for Spotify’s launch).

The music streaming service is already a hit in Europe with 10 million users and 1.6 million paying subscribers.

Although there is a lot of competition coming from Pandora, Last.Fm, Rdio, Slacker and other music services, Spotify is already ahead of the curve by securing licenses for over 15 million songs  to avoid lawsuits from the music labels,

The process was pretty simple.

All I did was type in my email on the Coca Cola/Spotify page and few hours later and I was sent a link.

After that I downloaded the Spotfiy application onto my computer.

To see how extensive the Spotify catalog really was,  I typed in A Tribe Called Quest and to my amazement, every Tribe album was listed along with notes about each album (an added bonus was the inclusion of  rare remixes).

There is an mobile application to allow you to play Spotify on your phone.

The service is free but limited, but there are also various prices plans for $4.99 and $9.99 that will suit your musical needs.

Even though Spotify is new to America, they are quite poised to be a success.

But it will be interesting to see how companies like Pandora will compete with Spotify, which can only benefit music lovers across the county and abroad.
